About
This project involved extensive renovations and additions at Christiansburg Primary, Christiansburg Elementary, and Belview Elementary for Montgomery County, VA Public Schools. With a construction budget set by 5 Design at $35 million, the project was entrusted to Branch Builds as the CM at Risk in October 2019. Despite the challenges posed by a global pandemic, 5 Design and its consultants accomplished full design in just 72 calendar days. The team produced an impressive 400 drawing sheets and 2,300 specification pages to document 100,000 square feet of renovations and five building additions totaling 60,000 square feet across three buildings in two different localities.
The projects were successfully completed in February 2023, coming in over $1 million under budget, on time, and with minimal disruption to faculty, staff, and students—all while the schools remained occupied during construction. Throughout the process, 5 Design worked closely with Branch Builds to navigate material shortages and cost fluctuations in a volatile construction market. The result is a testament to our commitment to delivering quality work, even under challenging circumstances.
